How it Works
At Service Leadership Academy, learning happens together—in community, in faith, and in fun. Each week, students and parents enjoy three unique learning experiences designed to enrich the homeschool journey.
This rhythm allows kids to build friendships in Homeroom, explore new interests in Electives, and gives moms a space to connect—all while keeping Christ at the center.
Homeroom (First Hour)
Classes are divided by age, giving children a chance to learn and grow with peers in their own stage of life.
Mom Class/Youth Led Class (Second Hour)
While teenagers step in to lead and assist with classes for younger students, moms gather for encouragement, fellowship, and learning.
Electives (Third Hour)
Families choose from a variety of subject-based courses taught by parents who share their talents and passions.
2025-2026 Schedule
8:30a - 9:00a — Student Council
Student Council – Led By Michelle Toney
8:30a - 9:00a — Arrival and Set Up
Families arrive between 8:30 and 8:50 to get settled before our day begins. Arriving on time helps us begin the morning together in unity.
This first window is also our set-up time. Parents and teens help prepare classrooms, arrange supplies, and ensure everything is ready for the day’s learning. Working together in this small way sets the tone of service that carries through the rest of the day.
9:00a - 9:15a — Gathering Time
Location: Multi-Purpose Room 1 & 2
Each week begins with everyone together—students, parents, and teachers—for a short time of connection and focus. During this gathering we share announcements, pray, and set our hearts on Christ before classes begin. It’s a simple, grounding way to start the day in unity as one co-op family.

11:45a - 12:00p — Children's Choir
Location: Multipurpose room 1&2
At the end of our morning together, all students will gather for a brief closing. During this time we’ll practice and sing the Hope of America songs, led by Laura Neil, to finish the day with energy, unity, and joy.
12:00p - 12:15p — Cleaning Assignments
To help keep our space welcoming for everyone, each family will be given a simple cleaning assignment (such as straightening chairs, wiping tables, or tidying a room). We ask that families take ownership of their assignment each week.
If you know you’ll be absent, please kindly arrange for another family to cover your assignment so that everything is still completed. By sharing the responsibility together, we can finish quickly, keep our space in great shape, and head home with gratitude for one another’s efforts.
12:15p - 1:30p — Park Day
Each week, families are invited to gather for Park Day—a relaxed, outdoor time to play, talk, and connect beyond the classroom. While attendance is optional, it is strongly encouraged, as it’s through these simple afternoons at the park that we truly cement the friendships and relationships we are building together at co-op. Park Day gives children time to strengthen bonds with their peers and provides parents with an informal setting to visit and support one another. It’s one of the most important ways our community grows stronger outside of class.

Why Our Classes Matter
Every SLA class is parent-led, Christ-centered, and community-focused. Homeroom gives your child a stable group of peers, while Electives let them explore new passions. Together, these two hours create a rhythm of belonging, discovery, and growth—for kids and parents alike.
